Four candidates for Greene County Fair queen

The Greene County Fair queen contest is slated for Wednesday, July 12, at 7 pm at Clover Hall on the Greene County fairgrounds.

The winner will represent Greene County in the Iowa State Fair queen contest next month.

The four candidates are:

ELISE BADGER – I am 16 years old and I am going to be a junior at Greene County High School. I enjoy showing cattle and sheep year-round in the state of Iowa and surrounding states. I am involved in 4-H, Young Leaders and serve on the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Board of Directors. I am the current Greene County FFA President for the year 2023-24. I also enjoy dancing competitive at the Rhythm Room Dance Center.  After high school I hope to pursue a career in animal genetics. In my free time, I enjoy working with my livestock and hanging out with my friends.

TAYLOR McDOWELL – I will be a junior next year at Greene County High School. I am involved in 4-H, Young Leaders, and FFA. I show sheep and goats at the County Fair where I have won many showmanship ribbons.  I also show at the Iowa State Fair and attend jackpot shows in the surrounding areas. I work at Misty Lanes during the winter as a cook. I like to better my community by helping as much as I can with activities and events such as teaching kids, who are new to showing, how to take care of and show livestock.

CHANLYN CUNNINGHAM – I go to Greene County High School where I am entering my junior year. I am involved in 4-H, Young Leaders, cheer, soccer and softball. I am currently the vice president for the Raccoon River Rockets 4-H Club. I enjoy showing goats at the county fair and taking care of my cows and chickens at home. I am extremely busy this summer lifeguarding at the pool in Jefferson, having an amazing softball season and working with my livestock preparing for the fair. In the little spare time I have I enjoy spending it with my friends.

SHAI WOODLEY – I am currently a junior at Greene County High School. At the county fair, I show poultry, and do photography for 4-H. I am also a Junior Rabbit and Poultry Superintendent along with the two other superintendents. I am currently the treasurer and secretary for the Greene County Young Leaders 4-H Club along as co-vice president for my 4-H club and an officer for FFA. After I graduate high school I either want to go into culinary or agriculture. I make an effort to show up on time to the places I need to be.
